This
is a low cost option for the Picometer. It uses
the Light Optical Table instead of the Precision
Optical Table.
The
Light Table does not have the heavy rigidity which
is required for imaging applications, and has
a smaller "free volume" for the sample,
but uses the same modular optical components as
the other ellipsometers. It can carry the He/Ne
laser and photomultiplier detector used in the
Standard Picometer, or
it can carry a 650nm diode laser and a silicon diode
detector (which has less flexibility in following
a wide range of contrasts in the surface reflectivity).
